We, Family of Mr. George Samuel, Mazagon , Bombay, regret to hear about the passing away of Pastor Joseph , fondly known as uncle by us in 1970, when we joined NLF, Hume High School Byculla .
Walking down the memory lane of 1970 ‘s, with Pastors Truscott, Patterson’s, Allan Vincent , James Roxborough, the Pune conventions organized by Pastor Joseph, was something that the family members of those years always looked forward to eagerly . Some of the church activities of 1970’s that included pot luck dinners are fondly remembered.
A man with a passion for God, and compassion for people, was a great brother, friend, mentor, to my Dad and mum. A great Pastor, an encouraging and inspiring leader, spiritual father to many , gentle, humble, kind and compassionate, Servant leader, always paved the way for freedom to share and testify in the church meetings.
A man with a great vision for Bombay, India, World. The birth of the ‘cell church model’ (House –Group) to reach the people of Bombay was effectively carried out keeping Evangelism, Discipleship and Prayer as the Focus.
I still remember his soft comforting voice on phone, in July 2017, when I spoke to him about my dad who went to be with the Lord.
May the loving Lord grant Aunty Florence, Philip, Esther, Naomi comfort and peace at this time.
Aunty Samuel, Vinita, Pamela, Melvin will always remember Uncle Joseph who was a blessing to many .

Pastor

Pastor Joseph,
He was a great dreamer and a great visionionary. Whenever I visited his house in 1991 I could see him praying and dreaming for more churches in every part of India.
He lived his life well
Wonderful man of God - great principles on giving, leadership, evangelism, church planting.
The churches in India will definitely miss him.
Heaven is rejoicing

A tribute to Uncle Joseph
from Stephen, Eunice, Jeremiah, Jonathan & Joanna.
My memories as a child visiting Uncle & Aunty Joseph was during our vacations to Mumbai, and each time I would take away words of encouragement that would lift my spirits and strengthen my faith.
I remember one day, when we were standing in the balcony of their house, he shared from, Psalm 2:8
"Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession",
and what this verse meant to him when he ASKED GOD for the nation's of the world as his inheritance..... Today i can surely say, God honoured his faith, as He was a Spiritual Father, a Father to the Nations and a GLOBAL AMBASSADOR of CHRIST.
This verse has stuck with me till today and will continue to remain with me.
He was a man of vision, and loved being with people. Every visit to Mumbai, he was preaching and teaching the Gospel, a passion, a flame of fire that could not be doused, and a hunger none could quench.
The last time i met him in person, he told me God has a plan for me, and will use the skills he has given me. Never to give up. Our visits to Mumbai will never be the same, he will definitely be missed.
Our deepest condolences to aunty Florence, Philip, Esther and Naomi as we grieve along with our family. We have the ETERNAL HOPE in Christ Jesus, and are confident that we will see him one day.
Heavens is rejoicing for His home coming, for truly a CHAMPION who fought the good fight of faith and finished his race well.
Love, Blessings and Prayers from all of us in New Delhi.

Pastor Joseph lived a life like how Chirst would live.He gave love to the unloved, he gave hope to the hopelesss , he gave help to the helpless.
I came to know Pst Joseph in a close way since 2007.He played many roles in my life as spiritual father as a leader as a guide and also a grandfather. He is the best Pastor I ever met because in all the fields he was ahead be it forgiveness, giving, faith, vison, evangelism and etc.He always had a smile on his face.He served the lord with consistency , integrity and zeal. There will never come a man like him.He was once in a generation pastor. It will be a huge loss for all of us but earths loss is heavens gain.He as fought the fight he has finished the race and how the lord will give him the greatest reward which no one can take from him.Such humility he had.I salute you Pastor Joseph.

The first time I met Pastor Joseph was in 1980 at Pandit Hall. Since then he has been a spiritual father, leader, advisor and motivator to me. Every time we spoke, including the last time that was three months ago, he always prayed with me. Whenever I was in Mumbai, I would visit him and he always made time. He was very happy when I completed the Bible translation work and he encouraged and blessed me greatly. My experience with him will always be unforgettable. As is written in Hebrews, that although Abel is dead, still he speaks to us. Similarly, Pastor Joseph; even though he is no longer with us, he will continue to speak to us. The legacy of his life, his testimony, his words of encouragement will continue to inspire the leaders, pastors and believers everywhere. My heartfelt condolences and prayers to Auntie Florence and the whole family. God bless.

Pastor Joseph became my spiritual mentor on my very first meeting with him . It was probably the year 1986, I was just new in Mumbai and his house in Mahim almost became like a shelter to me . His passion to form people for ministry was very strong and had such urgency. He drew people to himself like a magnet, and preached and taught whenever and wherever he got an occasion. I still remember the very first instruction he gave me. '' Richard, wherever you go to worship, look for four signs in a church. A Spirit filled anointed leader, a spirit filled worship, a church with a vision and a church with a mission. These are the four pillars of a true church ''
His leadership was anointed, and his carisma enabled the ministry to spread like wild fire across India. On one of our memorable evengelical outreach to Goa our team had come under attack in Bogmalo village. Pastor Joseph was sitting right next to me in the bus. We were both bleeding. A stone had hit him and he was bleeding from a ear. He remained calm, and his lips only uttered silent prayer. Like a true servant of God he did not want to press charges on any one. Within a year four churches were established in Goa.
His knowledge of scriptures was amazing . As I had come from a organized religious background , he used to quote book of Hebrews chapters Ten and Eleven frequently and whatever he spoke, remained imprinted in my soul .
It was an amazing family , while the Pastor was passionately ministering , his better half was serving the visitors relentlessly. I am ever thankful to Pastor Joseph and his family. May God comfort the family .
All Glory to God for such an anointed servant.

New life fellowship
Pastor Joseph was my spiritual father. In 1981 I joined the N.L.F, where I was also baptised. Since I was residing in Mahim, I was attending house group in Pastor's house. My family was in Goa and Pastor's family was my family and they treated me like one. I had meal with them very often. Philip became very close to me and mentored me in the faith.
In the course of time God graciously saved my family Bogmalo.
Pastor decided that it was time to establish this work of the Lord in Goa, where there were very few born again churches. So in 1988 Pastor Jospeh with Pastor Shelton and family and about 25 others came to Goa and stayed in our house and had gospel crusade in some cities. After one crusade on our way back home in N.L.F buses we entered our village at about 8pm. We were stopped by a crowd of few hundreds who after some conversation began stoning the bus with Pastor Joseph, Pastor Shelton, his wife and their baby daughter and a bus full of us. One of the stones hit the glass and struck pastor on the side of his face cutting his face and head. Today the church has been established.
Without doubt a mighty pillar has gone to be with the Lord where the crown of righteousness due to him shall be bestowed by our beloved Lord.
When I heard of his passing away my mind raced straight to heaven to imagine the reception there far, far, greater then any send off we could give him here.
I quote him very often, "spiritually natural and naturally spiritual" "he who expects lots from the Lord will receive lots, who expects little will receive little, he who expects nothing will receive nothing.
Pastor used to say "I am called to be a pastor so I simply love people"
My commenting would not be complete if I don't mention his better half whom he loved so much and who wouldn't? This mighty woman of God, humble with a true servant's heart ever smiling, full of joy who without doubt was a source of inspiration in his life. It surely is a great loss for her. May the Lord comfort you dear sister.
I would want to say much more but I will conclude this by saying "see you soon my beloved pastor"
